
Though there were skeptics, though some of us believed the evening would end in a conflagration of some sort or another, none of the luminarias on the dark path leading to Roger's manse set the woods on fire after the Dodie Miller/Alison McGhee reading last night. In the first picture, we see one of the principals pointing toward something outside the window.

Could we be talking about the people in the second picture? Were they already beginning to compose their limericks? In the third, have they begun to chant in double dactyls?

Suspicious characters discussed opening beer bottles on the antique funiture, the piano, the window ledges, but then someone offered a Swiss Army knife. This resolved the problem. The owner of the estate would not have been happy, otherwise. The owner of the estate slept happily in his bed; he did not find baby powder in his shoes, nor was his bed short-sheeted as suspicious characters suggested.
Did anyone put Jolly Ranchers under the host's pillow, guaranteeing him sweet dreams?
